Benalla (Victoria)

15/12/2014 On our return trip to Melbourne, we visited Benalla, the ‘Rose City’. We lunched overlooking the Broken River from the Benalla Art Gallery, which is situated in the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Just inside the entrance to the gardens is a memorial plaque and very moving bronze sculpture to soldier-surgeon and war hero Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop, who was born in 1907 in Benalla and grew up in the Benalla District.
