AITW List – Fourth Tick – Elephant Seal

2/12/2014  Well, maybe it wasn’t on my list but it definitely got added when we heard there was an Elephant Seal at Seaspray Beach, half an hour south of Sale (Vic). The locals have named her Ella and say she has visited this township in 2011 and 2012. The DPI say she is not sick or injured but may be here to rest and moult. Elephant Seals are usually only found in sub-Antarctic Islands and the closest breeding area of Elephant Seals is Macquarie Island. She is certainly not pretty and she definitely has a weight and snoring problem. To see her so close was an unexpected delight.
